This is a rewarding position that will have you wanting to go to work every day with being responsible for testing the properties and stresses of heat-treated materials. Daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to - preparing samples, performing measurements on samples, operating testing equipment, and reporting irregularities to supervision for investigation. Technicians are required to follow customer work instructions and procedures while inspecting materials to ensure quality standards are being met. The ability to maintain computerized records of data and operate a variety of specialized equipment is required.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Work in conjunction with the Lead HT Lab Technician to perform and complete the daily/weekly testing requirements.
- Perform heat treatment inspections using various lab testing equipment (ex. MT91 microhardness tester, Versitron Surface hardness, MPI, Barkhausen, bandsaw)
- Prepare etchants and cleaners for use in laboratory metallurgical evaluations
- Perform sample preparation using etchants, polishing equipment, band and sectioning saws, and other specialized equipment.
- Collect and record test data into provided digital form and report abnormal findings to supervision.
- Utilize ergonomic material handling equipment such as overhead hoists, clamps, and fixtures.
Required Qualifications:
- Must have prior experience in a manufacturing environment. Automotive preferred.
- Capable of using general power tools. (Example. Band saw, hoist, hand saw, etc.)
- Experience in using microscopes, cameras, and various hardness testing equipment.
- Knowledge of heat treatment testing methods such NDT, MPI (Magnaflux) and Barkhausen.
- Two years of Heat Treatment metallurgical lab analysis or related experience preferred.
- Capable of lifting 30-50lbs multiple times a day using ergonomic lifting assistance (where applicable.)
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- A self-motivated, goal-oriented individual with the ability to work in a team environment will excel in this position.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite required. Specifically, Excel, Outlook, and Word.

Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
