Company Overview:

The Company is a small established business located in Manchester NH. We have a history of producing positive cash flow and are backed by private equity. We are acquisitive while executing on our core growth strategy. Our primary customers are governmental agencies with long term contracts. We have a small business company culture where it is expected that everyone do more than just their assigned role. The applicant for this position needs to be well versed on all elements of small business from taxes to paying the day to day bills. The applicant needs to be comfortable in a small shop of less than 100 employees and be prepared for rapid growth. Position requirements will run beyond traditional accounting and cover aspects of HR, Legal, and Analysis.

General Role:

The senior accountant will report directly to the CFO and perform the general duties listed below. The primary responsibility is to ensure our financials and support schedules are recorded in accordance with GAAP, that the business is in good standing in all states we operate, and taxes are compliant. This candidate will be able to manage the majority of annual audit and tax audit. Attention to detail is an absolute must. Experience with rev rec 606, capitalization of software development (350), leases (842), sales and use, state registrations, payroll, 1099s, and more. The applicant must be a self-starter with the ability to research and solve complex accounting issues. Be efficient through use of the latest tools to minimize additional hires. The CFO will help guide and foster an environment where the applicant is continually learning, but at the same time there is a lot of daily work. The applicant must also manage and teach a junior accountant.

Day-to-day activities:

  • In charge of AP, Invoicing, AR/Collections, Deposits / Bill Pay, Cash Reconciliation, Support Schedules, Payroll, HR, onboarding, offboarding, benefits review, Reporting as required, and administrative duties if needed.
  • Ability to manage two business units and produce consolidated financial reports.
  • Documentation and coordination of internal processes from invoicing to and purchase requests
  • Expand upon existing policy and procedures for a fully audited business.
  • Manage 1099 s, state registrations, payroll with ADP, expense reporting, and more.
  • Work with production to create invoices with an understanding of BOMs
  • Maintain Support Schedules
    • Deferred Revenue Schedules
    • Accrual Schedules
    • Pre-Paids
    • Fixed Asset Ledger and Intangibles
    • Lease Tables
    • Commissions and backlogs
  • Work directly with operations to identify and correct any billing errors
  • Work with IT to establish rules in the Capitalization of Software
  • Month End Close
  • Manage chart of accounts
  • Forward looking to help utilize technology and or enact new processes to alleviate points of pressure in the system
  • Guard against points of failure and communicate quickly any areas of concern
  • Point person on year end audit working with CFO

Experience:

  • 10 years of multifaceted experiences. Experience in multiple accounting systems a plus, Sage, Quickbooks, Acumatica. CPA or advanced degree a plus. Solids understand of GAAP and ASC codes. High comfort level with excel and pivot tables. Some experience with manufacturing and government procurement helpful. Acquisition integration experience a plus. Comfort beyond a 9 to 5 atmosphere when demand spikes. Experience in being the lead on the audit or desire to be the lead.

We will have a department of 3 in accounting and utilize other members to help in billing. Our department is responsible for payroll, HR, benefits, Legal, contracts, M&A, and more. We recently acquired a cyber security company and we are growing rapidly. Employees doubled revenues will have double in the last few years. This is a challenging atmosphere and one where you will learn a lot. This is a great opportunity for the right candidate.
