Accountant (AP Experience Required)

Description

The Accountant plays a vital role in maintaining our inpatient rehabilitation hospital's financial accuracy and integrity. This role involves various accounting functions, including financial reporting, account reconciliation, and ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable. The Staff Accountant will collaborate with the CFO and the broader finance team to maintain financial records, ensure vendor payments, and contribute to the hospital's overall financial health.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

General Ledger:

• Prepare and record journal entries, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
•  Assist in the month-end closing process, including account reconciliations and analysis.

Accounts Payable and Receivable:

• Process vendor invoices, verify accuracy, and manage timely payments.
• Monitor accounts receivable, track aging, and follow up on outstanding balances.

Financial Reporting:

• Participate in the preparation of financial statements, reports, and analyses.
• Support the development of budgets and forecasts.

Compliance:

• Stay current with relevant healthcare accounting regulations and standards.
• Assist in internal and external audits as needed.

Other Duties:

• Bank reconciliations.
• Maintenance of fixed asset records.
• Ad-hoc projects and assignments as directed by the CFO.

Requirements

Education, Training, and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 1-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a healthcare or hospital setting.
• Experience in a hospital or healthcare setting is considered a plus.
• Familiarity with healthcare-specific coding and reimbursement principles.
• Experience executing Accounts Payable processes.

Skills and Abilities, Proficiency and Productivity Standards

• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, etc.).
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills (data manipulation, formulas, etc.).
• Organizes and prioritizes tasks and projects, accurately completing job responsibilities within the specified time constraints.
