QUALITY TECHNICIAN
Job description
The Quality Technician will program and operate CMM equipment, assist in the design and implementation of policies and procedures for testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and/or equipment. The Quality Technician will be expected to provide support to Operations, interact with customers and provide support for Quality Systems and Engineering. This position may also function as a Quality Management representative. As a management representative, this position must be able to assist in coordinating with the Quality Manager in the development and continual improvement of the company’s quality policy, quality objectives, and the AS9100 quality management system, ensuring that the customer product requirements and company requirements are met.
Specializations may include but are not limited to; CMM programming and operation, material and process control, product reliability, quality engineering, and/or metrology.
This position will be integral in meeting the Quality Management System requirements. It requires creativity and foresight to work with operations and product development teams to ensure compliance to the Quality Manual, Design Control, Supplier Management, and other appropriate procedures for a variety of product from concept through market introduction. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated individual who is excited by the prospect of working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Job duties and responsibilities:
-CMM is a must and PC-DMIS experience helpful
- Create and maintain proper documentation
- Ability to complete FAI reports and AS9102 inspection forms.
- Process PPAP’s and implementation of control plans.
- Manage AS9100 Internal Audits and audit scheduling. Help with customer on-site audits.
- Must be able to work independently and as a team
- Participate in the continuous improvement and 5S processes
- Evaluate manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs, applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling and materials
- Confer with equipment vendors, solicit observations from operators, work closely with purchasing and production control for material and scheduling information
- Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements. Researching, designing, modifying and testing manufacturing methods.
- Review customer specifications and purchase orders to make sure the information is communicated correctly to the shop floor and to our vendors.
- Assure product and process quality
- Provide engineering information by answering questions and requests from customers and operators.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks.
- Build blueprints using customer provided information and CAD files.
- Proficient use of SolidWorks is preferred.
- Knowledge of GD&T and how to apply it.
- Review customer prints and files for DFM and make suggestions on how to improve the processing of the part and/or make it more manufacturable.
Skills/Qualifications
-CMM is a must and PC-DMIS experience helpful.
- Document control and maintenance is preferred.
- Understanding of ISO 9001 and/or AS 9100.
- Experience with internal and external audits is preferred.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs is a must.
- Bachelor’s degree in quality or mechanical engineering is preferred.
- Experience in leading process improvements on the line.
- Lean manufacturing experience. Kaizen, 5S, and Six Sigma experience helpful.
- Communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and work effectively as a team
- Organizational and time management skills
- SolidWorks experience is preferred.
- Experience working in a Machine or Precision Sheet Metal Shop.
- Must be extremely proficient in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance.
- Knowledge of programming NC machines and using M and G codes is a plus but not a requirement.
- Knowledge of computers, geometry and trigonometry
