Position Summary:
The Project Manager will have extensive knowledge of underground utility construction operations including: equipment used, laborer skills, safe digging operations, OSHA requirements, etc. The PM will be the direct supervisor of field construction crews and supervisors. Responsibilities include, but not limited to: planning, directing, and organizing their day-to-day operations. The PM will oversee underground fiber and utility installation projects of various sizes and scopes of work. Having a strong work ethic, knowledge of the telecom industry, and a strong belief in the safety and well-being of all team members are key to the success of this role.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Directly responsible for the management of supervisors, constructions crews, and subcontractors to include the onboarding, training, disciplinary actions, and termination of internal staff. Also responsible for the payroll and performance management of internal team members and direct reports.
- Knowledgeable of underground constructions operations including the equipment being used, laboring skills, safe digging operations, OSHA requirements, etc.
- Communicates on a regular bases with telecommunications, utility, and water customers; has presentation and problem-solving skills and to be customer centric at all times.
- Manages the ordering of supplies, equipment, and materials for projects.
- Creates and manages the project plans, schedules, objectives, procedures, and performance standards.
- Prioritizes Safety, leads by example and develops the expected safety culture on each project.
- Responsible for the financial health of project managing; cost and profit of an entire project.
- Knowledgable of estimating and bidding projects.
- Ability to create and provide required reports to upper management.
- Regularly communicates with support staff to include HR, Fleet, and Accounting.

Experience and Education
- High School Diploma and/or equivalent.
- 5 years’ experience in underground utility construction.
- 2-3 years’ supervising experience.
- Proficient knowledge with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point), with aptitude to learn new software and systems.
- Valid Driver License required – Class A CDL Preferred
- Background investigation and Pre-Employment Drug Screen required.
Working Conditions / Environment: The location for this position is at our Villa Ridge, Missouri office.
Must be able to work in a variety of physical positions, including sitting, standing, walking, bending, squatting, lifting, twisting, pushing, pulling, and driving. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Regular exposure to all weather conditions, especially hot, humid and/or rainy spring, summer, and fall weather, combined with regular work time indoors in environmentally controlled conditions.
Assume responsibility for work outcomes and results of other workers. May be exposed to uncomfortable or distracting sounds or noise levels on sites of projects being managed or coordinated. When working onsite, will be required to wear common protective of safety equipment, such as safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats, and safety vest.
