Job Summary:
The Respiratory Therapist will administer respiratory care and life support to patients with cardiopulmonary system deficiencies and abnormalities and will train and act as a resource for respiratory department technicians.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current Arizona Respiratory Therapist
- Current BLS Certification (ACLS preferred)
- Problem solving abilities - ability and initiative to intervene immediately if needed for patient safety
- Ability to read, write and communicate with patients, caregivers and other medical professionals
- Computer proficiency in healthcare context - EMR, documentation, safety, compliance
- Proven work experience as a Respiratory Therapist or similar role (2 years of direct experience in hospital setting
JOB DUTIES & SKILLS:

- Conduct pulmonary function tests
- Assess and interpret evaluations and test results
- Determine respiratory therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians
- Help patient accomplish treatment plan
- Administer inhalants, operating mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, environmental control systems, and aerosol generators
- Directs treatments given by aides, technicians, and assistants
- Performs all daily lab and equipment checks for quality assurance.
- Maintains the facility in clean working order in accordance with OSHA and reports any equipment failure or deficiencies to the Nurse Manager.
- Accurately documents any incidents and reports them to the Nurse Manager and Physician on duty.
- Uses Biohazard containers correctly.
- Evaluate effects of the respiratory therapy treatment plan
- Complete discharge planning by consulting with medical staff members
- Respiratory care, emergency care, and intensive care experience
- Strong knowledge of pulmonary function and pulmonary rehabilitation
- Experience with respiratory equipment
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
- Completes required orientation as directed by facility
- Follows facility and OSHA safety rules and procedures while on assignment
- Follows Exceptional Healthcare protocols and policies
- Respects cultural and religious practices of patients
- Upholds HIPAA regulations
- Punctual and dependent for assigned/confirmed shifts
Physical Requirements:
