Job Description: Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) - Glasgow Health and Rehab

Position Summary: As a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in our long-term care facility located in Glasgow, WV, you will work under the supervision of licensed physical therapists to provide rehabilitative services aimed at improving the physical function and quality of life of our residents. Your role will involve assisting in the implementation of individualized treatment plans, conducting therapeutic exercises, and supporting residents in achieving their rehabilitation goals.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Assist in the delivery of physical therapy services to residents as directed by licensed physical therapists, following established treatment plans and protocols.

3. Participate in the assessment of residents' physical function, mobility, strength, and balance, under the supervision and guidance of physical therapists.

5. Implement therapeutic exercises, modalities, and activities designed to improve residents' range of motion, muscle strength, flexibility, and functional mobility.

7. Provide hands-on assistance and support to residents during therapeutic exercises, gait training, transfer training, and other rehabilitation activities to promote safety and maximize outcomes.

9. Document resident progress, treatment interventions, and response to therapy accurately and in accordance with regulatory standards and facility policies.

11. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care for residents.

13. Educate residents, families, and caregivers on home exercise programs, mobility aids, and injury prevention strategies to facilitate continued progress and independence.

15. Assist in the maintenance of therapy equipment, supplies, and treatment areas, ensuring cleanliness, organization, and safety standards are upheld.

Qualifications:

• Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
• Current certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).
• Valid state licensure or eligibility for licensure as a PTA in West Virginia.
• CPR certification and compliance with continuing education requirements.
• Previous experience in long-term care, geriatric rehabilitation, or skilled nursing preferred.
• Strong communication skills, empathy, and a commitment to patient-centered care.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to the needs of diverse resident populations.
