The CVOR-CST plays a crucial role in delivering technical support for patients undergoing Cardiovascular and Thoracic surgical procedures. As a key member of the surgical team, the individual is responsible for scrubbing all levels of CVOR and thoracic procedures in the operating room, as well as preparing setups and scrubbing procedures in the regular OR when required. Proficiency in understanding the Heart Lung Machine and its function in relation to the cardiovascular system, particularly in patient cannulation, is essential. The role includes on-call responsibilities, including weekends.
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program or military equivalent.
Certification is mandatory; if graduated after 1/1/08, certification is required. Candidates graduating prior to 1/1/08 are eligible for consideration.
Surgical technologists without certification may be hired but must obtain certification within 12 months of hire.
