Title: Materials Technician I

Position Overview:

Receives incoming materials, places in designated areas, and documents/records accurately in appropriate systems. Picks materials and components according to procedures and bill of materials, stages in appropriate locations and records and adjusts inventories in SAP. Complies with all regulatory agency’s requirements including FDA, DOT, OSHA, and all applicable state and federal guidelines for departmental activities.

Major Position Activities & Responsibilities:

  • Receives and distributes incoming GMP and non-GMP materials. Loads and unloads trucks.
  • Quarantines GMP materials in designated storage location.
  • After QA release, moves previously quarantined inventory to approved location.
  • Issues approved components to Manufacturing using a pick list.
  • Performs weekly inventory cycle counting and physical inventory on an annual basis.
  • Performs data entry on current Computer Inventory System for miscellaneous inventory transactions, purchase orders, pick lists and sales order fulfillments.
  • Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.
  • As a part of the employee’s job requirements, the employee may be required to handle wastes including hazardous wastes and/or dangerous goods during receipt and shipment. The employee must attend mandatory annual hazardous waste training meeting(s) and show a competency in that training by passing test(s) administered by the company or consultant providing such training.
  • As persons in this role are engaged in the open manufacture of medicinal products, individuals must not be affected by an infectious disease nor have open lesions on any exposed surface of the body.
  • Notify supervisor if affected by infectious disease or open lesions on body, as individuals are not permitted to enter manufacturing areas or handle product if these conditions exist.

Scope: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Background Qualifications:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • High School Diploma or equivalent and or six months or more related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to define problems, perform investigations, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to perform data entry for the current (MRP/ERP system) for inventory transactions, receipts and pick lists. Must have excellent math skills to account for GMP/non-GMP component inventories and receipts.
  • Must be able to frequently lift 25-50 pound containers and be able to maneuver 75-150 pound containers for normal receipt and issuance activities.
  • Maintains the warehouse in a tidy and organized condition.
  • This position requires flexibility in working hours and overtime coverage for Materials

Management Technicians that are not available for morning shift duties.

  • Forklift Driver certification and previous experience in operating a reach truck.
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; risk of electrical shock; explosives and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is loud.
  • Performs all tasks safely.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
