What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paramedic - Cardiac Cath Lab position at Exeter Hospital?
Cardiac Cath Lab is a diagnostic and intervention procedural area for both cardiac and peripheral vascular cases. Paramedic works in collaboration with RN. Paramedic in the CCL will be direct patient care provider in procedure room and the CCL PACU. Assist during procedures, administer IV conscious sedation, continual hemodynamic monitoring, assess patients' comfort.
Call schedule required, Mon-Thurs (10x per month) self schedule with team and weekend coverage is always Fri-Sun (ETW), must be within 30min drive.
Requirements:
- 1 to 3 years Directly related experience
- High School or GED
- Nationally Registered Paramedic. NH state license within 30 days of hire.
- CPR certified on hire; ACLS/PALS within 3 days
- Strong communication skills
- Strong customer service skills
Responsibilities:
1. Continuous assessment of patient hemodynamics and alerts Physician to changes in patient responses.
2. Performs conscious sedation and recovery of patient to Phase I.
3. Mix and maintain IV/IC infusion and bolus.
4. Assists Physician in interventional procedures.
5. Performs procedures to include non‑sterile, dressing changes and maintaining aseptic technique.
6. Monitors the medical condition of patients and documents and reports changes to appropriate personnel.
7. Completes requirement paperwork and documents all patient care activities in the patients electronic medical records, ensuring accuracy of the record.
8. Performs patient assessments, treatments and discharge of patients.
9. Assists the CCL care team with support activities, including cardiac monitoring, O2 therapy, EKGs, phlebotomy, vital sign measurement, IV therapy and basic emergency procedures such as CPR. Within scope of practice, monitors and documents the medical condition of patients while reporting changes to appropriate personnel. Ensures the accuracy of documentation in the patient care record.
