Position Overview: We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our finance team, supporting our HVAC mechanical engineer organization and its various operating companies. This role will play a crucial part in financial oversight, reporting, and analysis, leveraging technical expertise to ensure accurate financial management across our diverse portfolio. The Senior Accountant position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, combined with advanced technical skills and a proficiency in accounting software.
This role will focus on processing the day-to-day accounting activities of our operating companies, ensuring timely and accurate transactional records while meeting regular deadlines. The Senior accountant will be responsible for helping to ensure accurate and timely monthly accounting closes for the operating companies of Exigent.
Responsibilities:
Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Senior Accountant will serve a key role at Exigent. The Senior Accountant will manage the accounting activities for the corporate entity and perform a variety of activities across the Company. These activities will include General Ledger, A/P, and A/R duties and a variety of account reconciliations and analyses across all entities.
Corporate Accounting:
- Process and manage accounts payable for corporate operations.
- Maintain comprehensive account reconciliations for Debt, Deferred Financing Costs, Intangible Assets, and other cross-company areas, collaborating closely with OPCO accounting teams.
- Facilitate ERP migrations from legacy systems to Sage Intacct for newly acquired entities, providing subject matter expertise and supporting onboarding of new staff.
- Prepare and maintain detailed analyses on Operating Leases across the company.
- Oversee fixed asset accounting records across all entities.
- Support accounting processes for acquisitions, ensuring seamless integration.
- Conduct monthly bank account reconciliations and manage intercompany account reconciliations.
- Assist in the preparation of consolidated financial statements and annual audits.
- Contribute to the establishment and enhancement of accounting policies and procedures.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
- 3-7 years of professional experience in Accounting.
- Proven experience as a Senior Accountant or similar role within a multi-entity organization, preferably in the HVAC or construction industry.
- Strong proficiency in Accounting technology, with advanced skills in Excel.
- Sage Intacct experience preferred but not required.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders (focusing on team-building and collaboration with operating managers, sales staff, customers and others.
