IT NETWORK CONSULTANT-HOUSTON: SALARY $80,000.00 DEPENDENT ON EXPERIENCE W-2

Our company is an established, privately-owned, closely-held, rapidly growing, Houston-based MSP PROVIDER servicing an expanding number of SMB clients in the Greater Houston Area.

NORTHWEST HOUSTON HQ (1960/249 AREA). On-site and remote services provided. The Firm has 8 employees. The owners are highly experienced IT providers who have presided over a continuous growth of both client base and revenue each year since the company’s formation in 2009. While HQ is in Northwest Houston, services are performed at the client location or remotely across the entire US. Service consists of a suite of IT/computer services, including installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and sales of data networking systems for small to medium sized businesses. EXL is searching for a highly skilled and motivated IT NETWORK CONSULTANT to join the Firm’s team.

POSITION DUTIES:

Reporting directly to the Founder/Owner who is actively involved in the day-to-day operations of the Firm, the IT NETWORK CONSULTANT duties are as follows:

- Installing, maintaining and administering WAN/LAN appliances (routers, VPNs, firewalls)

- Protecting data, software and hardware by coordinating, planning and implementing network security measures

- Monitoring network performance utilizing master consoles and making adjustments as needed.

- Installing, maintaining, troubleshooting and administering computer networks including system and application software, hardware and configurations, and related computing environments

- Maintaining and administering various server and storage infrastructures

- Performing disaster recovery operations and data backups when required

- Replacing faulty network hardware components when required

- Maintaining, configuring and monitoring virus protection software and email applications.

- Provide specific detailed information for hardware and software implementation

- BASE SALARY (ANNUALIZED Commensurate with Qualifications below – to be paid as a W-2 full-time job

QUALIFICATIONS

- Minimum 8-10 years’ IT experience

- Previous consulting experience required

- High-level knowledge of advanced routing protocols and VLAN implementations

- Current knowledge of competing technologies and solutions

- Ability to quickly learn new/unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources

- Ability to work in a high pressure 24/7/365 environment with strict deadlines and must be dependable and flexible: Must be able to work some weekends and after normal hours, to facilitate new client installations and for emergency repairs

- Strong communication skills both written and verbal

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to think through problems and visualize solutions

- Ability to implement, administer and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, firewalls, routers, switches and controllers

- Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols

- Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems

- Strong knowledge of network and storage infrastructure, hardware and software

- Network Security experience

- LAN and Wan experience

- SonicWall, Meraki, NAS, Office 365, Microsoft Active Directory experience

- Dell and HP Server experience

- Strong understanding of Microsoft operating systems and software compliance requirements

- Hybrid Cloud

- A self-starter able to work independently, but comfortable working in a team environment

- Ability to conduct complex systems analysis and translate user requirements into business solutions

- Ability to prioritize and multi-task projects effectively

HUGE PLUS:

- Networking Certification (CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, CompTIA, WCNA)

- Design and deploy the release of new technologies. Responsible for maintaining the server and storage infrastructure.

- ConnectWise, Ninja RMM, Axcient, StorageCraft experience

- Familiar with Cisco Meraki

- San deployment and equipment

- Installing/administering DNS, DHCP, GPO

- Installing/administering VMware vSphere

- Installing/administering Citrix Virtual Apps

- Installing/administering MS Hyper-V

- Installing and maintenance of MS Azure

The ideal candidate for this position will have a knowledge of storage platforms in a corporate infrastructure along with storage security practices. Must also have knowledge of desktop operating systems and network servers, be able to think outside-the-box to solve problems quickly, will understand the concept of impeccable customer service. Must have reliable transportation.
