Job Posting for Zookeeper at Exotic Feline Breeding Center
ZOOKEEPER JOB POSITION
This is a full time, 40 hours per week position.
The keeper is responsible for the day to day operations in reference to animal husbandry, attending to our visitors, and utilizing the talents of our many docents to ensure that the best standards of care and service are maintained in these areas.
Minimum Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years old
Must have a High School diploma or equivalent
Must be willing and able to work all shifts
Must be able to work in high and low temperature conditions
Must be able to lift 50lbs or more
1 year of animal care and husbandry experience.
2 years of full time keeper experience with carnivores and/or B.S. degree in animal sciences. (Preferred)
*Willing to train the right candidate.
Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:
Animal Keeping
Maintaining files and paperwork on docents.
Handling docent performance appraisals and interviews.
Daily cleaning and feeding of the animals in accordance with established “Facility Cleaning Routine” procedures.
Maintaining animal records including BAR & Feed charts.
Supervising and delegating duties to community service workers.
Participating and assisting in medical procedures.
Ordering dietary supplements and husbandry supplies for animals.
Holding and supervising monthly docent meetings.
Monitoring tour guides to insure quality information is given during tours.
Ensure visitors adherence to EFBC/FCC rules.
Monitors and reports on needs in areas of maintenance and upgrades with respect to animal welfare (housing, exhibits, etc.).
