Be our next Civil Intern, Highway Design
Your work environment at EXP
In this role, you will be a part of the Civil team for Highway and Transportation projects based in San Diego or San Bernardino, California.
EXP is currently seeking a talented Civil Intern for the Southern California market. The candidate will learn and perform diversified civil engineering work under direct supervision of a senior civil engineer. Duties include engineering design of highways, freeways and local streets all in accordance with the Caltrans Highway Design Manual and National and local design criteria and codes. Duties also include preparation of construction plans utilizing MicroStation and AutoCAD Civil 3D Software and various specialized civil engineering design programs. Miscellaneous duties include working with construction specifications and estimating quantities and costs. Candidate must be able to work within a team environment and have good communication skills.
What a day at EXP has in store for you
- Assist with analysis and review of roadway plans, traffic data, various reports, and geometric designs.
- Assist with planning and preliminary designs for roadways
- Perform analysis and design calculations according to the applicable design codes; use computer programs as appropriate
- Prepare construction plans using CADD programs
- Prepare construction specifications
- Perform material quantity take-offs
- Organize design calculations
What your experience looks like
- Studying Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required
- Knowledgeable with civil design and design computer programs
- Knowledgeable with CADD programs such as Microstation and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Knowledgeable with Geopak and 3D Modeling desirable but not required
- Proficient with MS Office software
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
The pay range for this role is $25 to $26 HR. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
