Your Challenge
EXP is currently seeking a n Engineering Technician/Surveyor for our Wisconsin Operations to work within the Infrastructure – Transportation Practice. The selected candidate will work under the direct supervision of the Wisconsin Transportation Leader and will focus on highway, bridge, railway, airport, buildings and water resources related projects. The selected candidate will be involved in project execution, calculation, and documentation of on-site construction activities for various infrastructure projects and/or perform field surveys for infrastructure related projects. Ideal candidate will be able to work in both a field and office environment .
Your Responsibilities
- Perform construction observation and inspection related activities.
- Be involved in transportation and civil construction projects (interpreting designs, construction specifications, verification of contractor performance, and pay estimates).
- Perform daily construction observation activities and maintain daily observation reports, photos, and as-built records.
- Perform field engineering calculations as required.
- Prepare and review construction documents for constructability.
- Monitor contractor progress and ensure conformance to engineering plans and specifications.
- Perform and document various surveys in accordance with proper surveying standards and contract requirements utilizing traditional, GPS and HDS surveying techniques.
- Perform drafting and field computations for surveys such as: ALTA/ACSM, boundary, topographic, right-of-way, hydraulic, etc.
- Prepare plats of acquisition, legal descriptions and perform property research.
- Lead survey crews or assist other survey crews as necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
The Skills and Knowledge You Bring
- Associates Degree or higher in Engineering Technology, Survey & Geomatics, Survey Technology, or other related surveying program preferred.
- 8 years of experience.
- Licensed PLS in the State of Wisconsin preferred.
- Must be willing to work remotely, without physically reporting to the office each day and able to work independently or as a part of a project team.
- Must be flexible with changing schedules and workload demands including overtime hours
- Must be willing to work outdoors in changing weather conditions.
- Software skills in AutoCAD, Autodesk Civil 3D required, ARCGIS capabilities preferred.
- Experience with Robotics, GPS, Total Station and HDS LiDAR scanning equipment preferred.
- Demonstrated mathematical and analytical skills along with the ability to learn new technologies.
- Excellent team player with good communication and problem-solving skills.
