POSITION : Mechanical Designer II
POSITION DESCRIPTION: exp U.S. Services, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Designer II with the following duties: Utilize Revit or CAD; Understand and properly create existing EXP details relevant to projects; Prepare HVAC schematic system diagrams; Prepare and review HVAC calculations for loads to determine equipment size; Utilize thorough knowledge of mechanical and energy codes; Edit specifications to reflect the project requirements; Coordinate with the EXP team to develop equipment room sizes during SD and DD phases; Select and schedule equipment for installation; Meet with vendors to determine specification requirements for the specific application; Coordinate with other disciplines (MEP, FP, ARCH, STRUCT); Respond to RFIs during the project construction phase, and accurately review product submittals; Apply risk management procedures daily to minimize EXP’s and client’s exposure to problems; Understand the proper scope of MEP Schematic Design, Development Design, and Construction Design level documents, and deliver appropriate documentation; Work with Project Coordinator and clients to meet scheduled project milestones of multiple projects; Edit and develop scope of work narratives (SD narrative, the basis of design); Perform at a ‘responsible charge’ level and meet EXP design and quality levels; Develop and monitor work plans and schedules in conjunction with Project Managers; Review code compliance and adherence; Manage work plans and deliverables on multiple projects within budgeted hours; Author studies and reports for systems on projects; Write sequences of operations for AHUs, CHW, and HW systems; Understand and apply concepts of CHW, HW variable & constant flow systems to select airside systems (CV, VAV, coil selection, fan selection) and hydronic Systems (hot, chilled, condenser); Utilize a thorough understanding of psychometrics and apply it to every project; Provide advanced equipment selection and analysis for chillers, boilers, air terminals, cooling towers, air valves, heap filters, DX equipment, and water source heat pumps. 30% travel required.
REQUIREMENTS : Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field plus 1 year related experience. Required skills: Assess building condition and HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) as well as plumbing requirements for client work requests; Perform necessary load calculations to determine the necessary air or hydronic system modification which includes equipment replacement and/or system rebalancing; Generate engineered construction documents including drawings (using AutoCAD and Revit software) as well as specification documents under the supervision of senior staff for bid and construction purposes; Assist in development of the scope of work (SOW) for mechanical HVAC projects and coordinate with clients, general contractors, as well as internal engineering and architectural disciplines in the design of said projects.
