Experience Alaska Tours is seeking energetic kitchen/food preparation staff for a fun-loving, hard-working restaurant and tour company in Ketchikan, Alaska. At Experience Alaska Tours (EAT), we serve a 3-course standardized meal of a Dungeness Crab Feast to large parties of guests that travel here from all over the world.

Experience dorm-style living with your co-workers while taking advantage of all the amenities our lodge has available. Housing is included in all contracts at no additional cost. After hours or on your day off, you will have access to fishing gear, kayaks, a personal-sized boat, and a campfire area! Your Role:

As a member of our kitchen staff, you’ll be preparing our famous crab feast standardized meal, making sure that all of the food that comes out of our kitchen meets a high standard of quality, and ensuring that the kitchen remains a safe, clean place to work.

Flexibility is an important part of our kitchen, so everyone will be trained on basic work stations to make sure you have all the skills you need to be successful.

Restaurant experience is *not* required! We provide in-depth training on cooking crab, running an industrial dishwasher, and prep cooking. Come ready to work and learn and we’ll take care of the rest.

Duties Include:

  • Assist in all functions of the kitchen or cooking area includingwashing dishes and equipment, cleaning kitchen areas, and preparing hot food according to health and safety guidelines.
  • Prepare ingredients and pre-made foods, stock inventory, and manage kitchen inventory according to FIFO methods and health and safety guidelines.
  • Properly disposing of trash and cleaning to a high standard.
  • Maintain a friendly and bright atmosphere for co-workers.
  • Ensure the safety and maintenance of the kitchen areas.
  • Assist with food deliveries, ordering, and general inventory.
  • Having excellent time management skills as our tour is very structured
  • Assist dining room team members with turning dining rooms and on other tasks as requested by dining room manager.

Requirements:

  • Alaska Food Handlers Certification
  • TAPS Certification (We provide access to a TAPS class and testing on site.)
  • Legally able to serve alcohol
  • Background check
  • Must pass a drug test
  • Must be able to stand/walk for long periods without breaks. The lodge is a very active workplace and you will get your steps in
  • Must be able to regularly lift and move up to 50lbs.
  • Must have great time management skills
  • Must be a team player, able to work and live with your coworkers
