Job/Position Description:
- Working knowledge of the OSI network model, Ethernet, and TCP/IP networking
- Ability to consult with faculty, staff, and department management regarding equipment for productivity and instructional uses.
- Work closely with other co-workers within the organization to maintain hardware and software needed for projects to be completed efficiently
- Works with technical support vendors to resolve systems issues and problems. Works closely with the Technical Teams and IS Manager to document levels of maintenance to include vendor contact, support contracts and or spare parts and or redundant system information and maintains the information monthly/quarterly and annually.
- Working knowledge and demonstrated ability to successfully design and implement solutions using the advanced feature set of Cisco wireless products and based on a validated understanding of radio frequency and antenna theory, 802.11a/b/g/n standards, site survey and configuration of controllers and APs. Solutions include voice over WLAN, outdoor mesh, and secure wireless.
- Provide clear goals for all areas of a project and develop steps to oversee their timely execution
- Be proactive about challenges or constraints within a project and seek to manage them accordingly
- Provide detailed specifications for proposed solutions including materials, manpower and time necessary
- Assist other department co-workers in creating practical demonstrations of proposed solutions and demonstrating them to other members of the team
- Work alongside project management teams to successfully monitor progress and implementation of initiatives
- Establish milestones for necessary contributions from departments and develop processes to facilitate their collaboration
- Develop and maintain documentation for supported applications, processes, and training material to internal employees and IT staff
- Participate in general IT operations and user support for networking and infrastructure needs
- Build and maintain cross-functional relationships with internal teams to drive initiatives
- Plan and implement systems automation as required for better efficiency
- Oversee and provide operations support including account management, workflow, log analysis, troubleshooting and service optimization
- Assist in ongoing evaluation and management of major vendor relationships and outsourcing arrangements
- Develop system-monitoring and support automation to enhance and scale the quality of support
- Managing and monitoring all the systems that are installed.
- Test and maintain the operating systems, system management tools, and application software.
- Design complex and efficient process systems.
- Risk management for the critical issues.
- Constantly monitor the application performance, identify the solution for the possible problems, and coordinate with the development team to incorporate those fixes.
Requirements:
- CCNA Specialty Wireless preferred
- or Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA)
- or Cisco Certified Design Associate (CCDA)
- or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP).
