Position Title: Director of Curriculum, Pedagogy, and Innovation

Location: Exploration High School | Minneapolis, MN

Start Date: Open until filled, with a desired start date of July 1, 2024

Position Overview:

Exploration High School is seeking a visionary Director of Curriculum, Pedagogy, and Innovation to join our dynamic team. This role is designed for a passionate educator who believes in the transformative power of project-based learning (PBL) and is eager to lead the development of a learner-centered curriculum that challenges the status quo of high school education. The ideal candidate is radically learner-centered, collaborates closely with peers, and is dedicated to driving pedagogical innovation. Your role will include supporting our teachers in delivering high-quality project-based learning experiences, teaching a course, and fostering a community-connected learning ecosystem. Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of a high-quality, project-based curriculum in collaboration with faculty.
  • Support teachers through professional development, coaching, and resources to enhance project-based learning practices.
  • Teach courses in areas that complement the school’s curriculum and your areas of expertise.
  • Promote a learner-centered approach that emphasizes student choice, inquiry, and real-world application.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, encouraging experimentation with new pedagogical strategies and technologies.
  • Collaborate with the wider community to connect learning experiences with real-world challenges and opportunities.
  • Contribute to the leadership team, supporting school-wide initiatives and strategic planning.

Qualifications:

  • Passion for Exploration High School’s mission, vision, and values, with a strong commitment to reimagining high school education.
  • Proven experience in planning and facilitating project-based learning in a high school setting.
  • Demonstrated leadership in educational innovation and curriculum development.
  • Ability to support, inspire, and work collaboratively with teachers and staff.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with students, staff, and community members.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusivity, and diversity in education.
  • Experience teaching in a high school environment is preferred.
  • Proficiency in digital tools for education, including Google Suite.

Compensation:

This is a full-time, 12-month position. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance as well as a potential relocation package.
