Our Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Biomechanics Associate for our Practice in Tampa, FL. In this role, you will work as part of a team to execute biomechanics consulting projects related to human movement and injury analyses.
Areas of work will include analysis of the human body response to forces to evaluate the potential for injury; analysis of specific incidents to determine whether and / or how an injury occurred;
and analysis of whether injuries could have been avoided or mitigated (., seatbelt use, helmet use, proper use of products, premises, or machinery).
This work requires engineering skills and scientific rigor, as well as the ability to identify, obtain, and synthesize reliable information from a variety of sources and real-world experience.
You will be responsible for
- Reviewing technical and non-technical materials in detail to identify key facts and information (such as police reports, medical / autopsy records, legal pleadings, expert reports, statements and testimony, photographs and video recordings, and product specifications and documentation)
- Researching and reviewing relevant scientific articles, texts, and test data, and analyzing and synthesizing technical information pertaining to biomechanical issues involving kinematics, dynamics, mechanisms of injury, and human tolerance
- Demonstrating the ability to synthesize technical information into an easily understood format suitable for technical and non-technical audiences
- Clearly communicating findings via presentations and written reports
- Managing projects with effective cost-control measures
- Assisting in conducting research, publishing research findings in technical journals, and presenting findings at meetings and conferences
- Actively participating in our Biomechanics Practice and assisting in marketing the group's technical capabilities to clients and the scientific community
You will have the following skills and qualifications
- in Biomechanics, Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- Knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas : human gait / movement, human anatomy and physiology, mechanics of biological tissues, orthopedic biomechanics
- Excellent written communication skills
- Time management skills
- Some flexibility in work hours, for example, to meet deadlines or data collection opportunities
- Effective leadership skills and the ability to interact with a wide variety of professionals, including engineers, scientists, managers, attorneys, and administrative staff
