We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer for our Mechanical Engineering Practice in Chicago, IL. The start date for this position is August 2024 or beyond, we are unable to consider earlier start dates. In this role, you will work as part of a team to help our clients solve challenging technical problems which are often urgent, high profile, and multi-disciplinary. You will be involved in a variety of projects with applications such as analyzing a wide variety of products ranging from consumer products to large mechanical systems. You will have the opportunity to define and shape your individual consulting practice based on your skills and interests.

We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer for our Mechanical Engineering Practice in Chicago, IL. The start date for this position is August 2024 or beyond, we are unable to consider earlier start dates. In this role, you will work as part of a team to help our clients solve challenging technical problems which are often urgent, high profile, and multi-disciplinary. You will be involved in a variety of projects with applications such as analyzing a wide variety of products ranging from consumer products to large mechanical systems. You will have the opportunity to define and shape your individual consulting practice based on your skills and interests.
You will be responsible for
- Demonstrating a strong background in computational analyses, experimental testing, and creative problem solving
- Communicating effectively with other engineers, managers, clients, and non-technical staff
- Conducting hands-on failure analysis
- Performing field inspections
- Planning and executing laboratory tests
- Performing calculations and analysis
- Performing computer simulations
- Creating written reports and presentations
- Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or similar fields with a focused thesis/coursework/project experience in machine dynamics, solid mechanics, and experimental mechanics
- Background in hands-on/field work or other professional experience outside of the classroom setting
- Experience performing finite element analysis
- Background in multibody dynamics is a plus
- Understanding of modern data analysis techniques using coding languages/packages such as Python, C , or Matlab
- Willing to work in new technical areas and continually develop new technical skills
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to work independently as well as within project teams
- Has potential for technical and project managerial leadership
- Interest in developing a client base
- Willing to travel, sometimes on short notice
- Ability and desire to become a Licensed Professional Engineer
