We are currently seeking a Principal Scientist for our Health Sciences Practice in New York, NY or Natick, MA. In this role, you will provide strategic advisory and operational support to clients on engagements involving pharmaceuticals and other regulated medical products, such as vaccines, medical devices and digital health therapeutics. You will work as part of an interdisciplinary team to identify opportunities, procure funding, and oversee complex real-world evidence (RWE) programs. RWE consulting will incorporate real-world data (RWD) derived from digital health technology as well as advanced analytics such artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML). Consulting engagements range from clinical to commercial use cases spanning the global life sciences industry, focused on the leading edge of innovation in science, technology, and research methodology.
Our consulting portfolio will be informed by the work for which you are known throughout the field and industry. The Practice’s functional areas of focus include epidemiology (including pharmacoepidemiology), RWE, HEOR/MA, regulatory science, and toxicology. Much of our work applies novel sources of data and advanced analytics methodologies to evaluate the safety, comparative effectiveness, and value of life science products. Strategic areas of interest include digital health, personalized medicine, regenerative medicine, and health equity. You will lead and oversee projects, identify new clients, build on relationships with existing clients, and develop new business in the Pharma sector of the Life Sciences with a focus on RWE.
You will be responsible for:
- Working on multidisciplinary teams to develop solutions to some of the most complex issues in the development and regulation of medical products
- Recruiting and developing top talent
- Bringing solutions to clients consistent with your recognized areas of expertise
- Attracting and developing new projects and clients through creative solutions or collaborations within the firm
- Maintaining strong relationships with existing clients
- Providing project management and project budget oversight
- Providing strategic advice to industrial and legal clients
- Promoting Exponent’s multidisciplinary consulting expertise by having or working toward an international reputation established by publishing papers, presenting at conferences, and conducting seminars
You will have the following skills and qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in Epidemiology, Medicine, Biostatistics, Pharmacy, Economics, or related scientific field
- Minimum 12 years of consulting experience in Life Sciences or related field with a proven track record of attracting new and repeat clients and/or obtaining funding
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Outstanding international reputation among clients for integrity, responsiveness, and technical expertise
- Adept at oversight of projects and guiding clients to rigorous solutions
- Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects
- Strong commitment to professional development and mentoring of more junior staff
