What are the responsibilities and job description for the Network Engineer position at Express Employment Professionals Utica/Rome?
The primary role of this position is to assume primary responsibility for the financial institution networks. This includes design, architecture, deployment, maintenance and documentation. The Network Engineer works closely with the Systems/Network/Security Administrator positions. This individual will also analyze and resolve network hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion. The majority of the financial institutions networks are virtualized using VMware and Citrix, experience in these technologies is preferred.
- Ensures the stability of all voice and data network services
- Develops, implements and documents network policies and procedures.
- Make recommendations for the improvement of network services.
- Implements plan for system and network hardware upgrade cycle.
- Collaborates with associates within the IT Department in order to ensure a high level of reliability and performance for end users.
- Monitors network performance and troubleshoots problem areas as needed.
- Perform system design and capacity planning.
- Provide on-call technical support
- Manages vendor relationships with regard to network services, support, products and service contracts.
- Takes a lead role in the design, development, implementation and maintenance of disaster recovery and business continuity solutions.
- Researches networking technologies and seeks training opportunities to stay abreast of industry developments.
- Support VMware and Citrix infrastructure, including Cisco UCS and NetApp San hardware.
- Required to participate in financial institutions evens as well as designated community events.
- Required to attend or participate in necessary compliance training.
- Required to attend training sessions as appropriate.
- After hour's maintenance, support, and upgrade processing required.
- Required to travel as needed.
- Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
