Job Title: Painter
Reports To: Supervisor Manufacturing
Position Summary
Entry level position that under immediate supervision, sandblasts, cleans and paints compressors and all other equipment as directed.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assists with operating cleaning equipment and prepares equipment for painting
- Assists with mixing specific types of paint systems and applies these to customer and company specifications.
- Operates with sandblasting equipment to customer and company specifications
- Masks and feathers old paint in preparations for new paint. Must have knowledge of required tools and maintenance care
- Follows all relevant HSSE guidelines
- Promotes and supports safety, production and positive attitude
- Must be able to work with the team in developing improved work processes for the department
- Participates in group discussions and meetings
- Maintain equipment and clean work areas
- Participate in continuous improvement activities
- Requires employee to rarely type and use a computer and other office equipment, such as a copier, printer, calendar, telephones, etc.
- Requires frequent operation of heavy equipment such as forklift and scissor lift
Preferred Education
- High school diploma
Preferred Experience & Skills
- 1-12 months related experience
- Ability to communicate in English
Preferred Training & Certifications
- Ability to be certified to drive a forklift
Physical Demands
- Requires employee to stand for at least 90% of the time
- Requires employee to sit for at least 10% of the time
- Requires employee to constantly inspect and paint equipment, climb stairs or ladders and must be able to maintain balance on stairs or ladders without assistance.
- Must be able to communicate and respond to coworkers and emergency cues/alarms, in person and on the telephone, including use of mobile devices
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Requires work in outdoor conditions, including all weather conditions & unairconditioned facility
- Requires work on loud environment
- Requires moving and maintaining self constantly in different positions, stoop, kneel, crouch to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces
- Must wear all required PPE, including fire-retardant clothing, helmets, face shields, hearing protection, safety goggles, steel-toed boots, safety glasses, gloves, fall protection as applicable
- Position rarely requires travel
