Extra is the first debit card that builds your credit history and earns rewards points just like a credit card. Our technology uses your cash history to determine your spending limit, so there’s no need for a credit check.

What We're Looking For

Our team works to move the credit conversation forward. 

We’re looking for an experienced creative director to help build our team and lead our creative strategy. You bring experience managing and overseeing specialized creative resources like design, copy, and animation. You will be responsible for leading and working hands-on in all of our key consumer touchpoints - in-application, across social media, and on our owned channels. You will work cross-functionally with our growth, product, people and comms teams to help bring the brand to life and celebrate it through creative ideas, concepts and assets that ensure a seamless, consistent, and innovative consumer-first brand experience. It is important that you have a deep passion for building relationships and use that to help influence and align teams around a creative vision and campaign strategy.

Working cross-functionally with internal stakeholders and agency partners, you will be charged with creating and executing strategy-informed concepts across platforms including .com, email, social and paid media. We’re looking for someone at the forefront of cultural relevance and aesthetic excellence, who will be an integral part of our Brand Team, push the boundaries to define our brand creative vision through content and communication, inspire teams across the company, and build award-winning and ground breaking work.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and oversee the design language, signature visual and motion design patterns, design elements and brand assets for the entire brand and product portfolio
  • Lead, evaluate and oversee creative direction and existing creative resources
  • Grow and nurture a team of digital creatives to become a best-in-class in-house creative unit to best service internal stakeholders
  • Partner closely with our strategy and insights teams to form an impactful and well-architected creative direction for big brand, social media and evergreen campaigns
  • Influence creative direction efforts in other company departments to ensure that brand design standards are being met across product, people and engineering
  • Manage workload of a team and the day to day creative decision-making on behalf of the brand 
  • Innovate and renovate the general creative POV of the brand on an ongoing basis and ensure a category-leading level of taste, quality, and execution
  • Lead brand campaign development, including submitting ideas for projects and overseeing the development of all creative content

Minimum Basic Requirements

  • 7 years of progressive experience with 3 years as a creative director for consumer experiences at a digital company, advertising agency, or in-house creative focused on a digital experience
  • Experience in motion and graphic design (animation, layout, typography, color, imagery, hierarchy, architecture)
  • Experience successfully managing, leading and inspiring a team of strategists/account managers, designers and copywriters
  • Experience building campaign creative across social media and digital platforms
  • A deep understanding of digital, social media and current cultural events
  • Must have experience working with Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Slack and Notion

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong design instincts and a deep understanding of product design, content strategy, brand development and creative process fundamentals
  • Degree in Design (Interaction, motion graphics, visual communications, product, etc.)
  • Desire to continuously improve in an evolving environment
  • Readiness to set design and creative direction, and promote design principles
  • Excellent presentation skills and communication abilities at all levels of both internal and client organizations
  • Deep management experience in the creative space
  • Love the idea of helping people unlock the ability to build their credit like never before
  • A sense of humor
