The Industrial Designer I is responsible for providing
continuity between all inter-design disciplines
requiring space for routing of services within a project
area or building through space management. Space Management
defines the design coordination for the areas and spaces taken
by the designed systems, subsystems, equipment, or other
engineering.
- Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Takes ownership of entire LSP design as assigned by the WGL (mechanical, electrical and architectural)
- Coordinates with all disciplines to minimize design conflicts
- Incorporates RFIs or ECNs into design package(s)
- Creates and submits pop out DMRF for approval
- Ensures location of TPOC's in routing plans match the General Template Sheets, pop out usage is optimal, all Mechanical and Electrical review comments and quality control redlines are incorporated in the next release; self-quality control all hard copy packages prior to giving to WGL (sign checked box that quality control is complete)
- Follows and completes the Design/Quality Control/Field Verification, design field verification, checklists included in the White Book; interfaces with field verification team (via TMS), LPOC's/Elec Circuits, and pop out selections
- Creates Mechanical/Process/Electrical routing plans using documents and directions provided at the Go/No-Go meeting
- Verifies design constructability is optimal and is coordinated with surrounding equipment
- Attends meetings upon WGL request and supports RFI answering upon request of WGL
- Ensures approval of electrical POC's/LSS/VPMS/Telecom and pop outs prior to 1DR release (notify WGL if unavailable)
- Updates the LSPs to reflect any and all changes incurring due to RP updates
- Assists in identifying the main functional facility routes and the preliminary required space (plan and elevation)
- Assists in preparing typical sections of common areas for initial planning purposes and identify limitations concerning critical services such as process gravity drains, low-point concerns, maintenance areas and clearances, etc.
- Assists in coordinating all utility routes with each other, with support systems, with the fixed building structure and between disciplines; be the discipline POC regarding space management decisions and work closely with BIM coordinators to drive routing conflicts to resolution
- Assists in implementing safety in design, creating an Incident/Injury Free Workplace (IFW) working environment, and ensuring every goes home safe
- Other duties as assigned

- High School Diploma or GED required Associate's degree with technical focus preferred

Types of Experience
- Must have experience with Autodesk Building Systems Software
- Must have experience with Navisworks or above to integrate models for clash detection and inter-discipline coordination
