Staff Accountant

Job Overview

Applied Systems, Inc., a worldwide leader in insurance technology, is currently searching for a Staff Accountant to become an essential member of our Accounting team.  Utilizing your exceptional Excel skills and knowledge, you will be responsible for recording financial transactions in accordance with GAAP to properly reflect our current financial position. 

What You Will Do

• Perform financial analyses; makes recommendations regarding adequacy of various accruals, policies, and procedures
• Assist with periodic audits of all corporate financial records
• Assist with other accounting-based tasks; including but not limited to, intercompany transactions, lease accounting, and balance sheet reconciliations
• Handles various General Ledger Analysis at month end
• Participate and/or assist in special projects as needed

What You Will Need to Be Successful

• Ability to commute to Applied System's University Park office
• Must have:
• 2-5 years of practical accounting experience
• Working knowledge of MS Excel and other Microsoft Products
• Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and established accounting practices
• Knowledge of automated accounting and computer systems
• Flexibility and enthusiasm for learning new technologies, skills, tools, and ideas
• Desired skills (but not required):
• NetSuite experience
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
