Truck Driver

Job Description
The basic function of this position is to transport finished and unfinished goods to and from customers according to the requirements as described in the process manual.

Reporting Relationship
The Heavy Driver will report to the supervisor and/or shipping and receiving. In the event the supervisor and/or shipping and receiving is not available they will report to the plant manager. 

Duties and Responsibilities
•Properly load and unload finished and unfinished goods
•Complete the required shipping documents where necessary
•Report any incidents encountered while on the road to supervisor in a timely manner
•Complete a truck inspection before and after each trip and record any defects found
•Complete a driver log of activities
•Report mechanical problems immediately
•Keep the truck and any working area clean and in good working order
•Plan routes using maps or GPS
•Transport finished and unfinished good to and from customers in a timely manner
•Communicate clearly with shipping and receiving, and scheduling to ensure that shipments are delivered on time
•Identify and verify the following
• Part numbers/names
• Customer names and address
• Initiate process improvements
•Maintain inventory of necessary equipment related to the use of the truck and loading/unloading
