Job Title:  Controller 

Department: ACCOUNTING

Division: FAAC

Position Status: Exempt

  

Summary: 

Duties for the Controller will include managing accounting records, evaluating and managing risk, ensuring compliance with regulations, publishing financial statements, overseeing accounting operations, analyzing financial data, monitoring expenditure, forecasting revenue, coordinating auditing processes, and ensuring accuracy of financial information. We are looking for a candidate who has strong analytical skills, exceptional problem-solving skills, a flair for numbers, is highly organized, and has excellent leadership skills. The Controller should streamline our accounting functions and operations, provide financial analysis and reports, and train staff.


Responsibilities & Duties

· Preparation of monthly and year-end financial statements and supporting documents

· Review existing processes for efficiency opportunities

· Lead the Accounting Team, A/R, and the month end close process

· Coordinate efforts for the year end audit with external auditors

· Support FAAC operational functions with timely reports

· Preparation of the annual budget and quarterly financial forecasting

· Recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes

· Evaluating accounting and internal control systems

· Maintain and enforce a documented system of accounting policies and procedures

· Oversee the operations of the accounting department

· Ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly

· Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed 

· Maintain the chart of accounts, an orderly accounting filing system and a system of controls over accounting transactions

· Issue timely and complete financial statements

· Coordinate the preparation of the quarterly and annual management reports

· Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics, and variances from the budget and report significant issues to management

· Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings


Requirements

  

Minimum Requirements:

· ERP software experience; Microsoft Dynamics accounting software experience a plus.

· Must be detail-oriented.

· Excellent oral and written communication skills.

· Strong interpersonal skills.

· Strong knowledge of accounting principles.

· Strong analytical and problem solving skills

· Excellent presentation skills for educating internal clients on accounting principles

· Excellent planning and organizational skills to balance and prioritize work


Qualifications & Skills

· BS degree in Accounting

· CPA and/or MS degree in Accounting preferred

· 5-7 years of Accounting experience

· 3 years’ experience managing a team of diverse individuals

· Strong accounting technical and analytical skills required

· History of process improvement and system implementations

· Advanced to expert level knowledge in MS Excel

· Personal attributes include a highly organized approach, superior work ethic, and unquestioned integrity

· Extensive knowledge about accounting and management principles and procedures.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

· Proficiency with computers, especially business solutions and ERP software required; Microsoft Dynamics preferred

· Motivation to develop and maintain internal and external relationships.

· Commitment to ethical behavior with a willingness to adhere to all company policies and current financial legislation.


Physical Requirements: 

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone and keyboard

· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work

· Regular, predictable attendance is required; including quarter-driven hours as business demands dictate.

· Moderate Noise (i.e. business office with computers, phone and printers, light traffic).
