Objectives
Set-up, operate and adjust all printer machines in accordance to design specifications.
Main Tasks
- Sets up and adjusts all machine variables to achieve final products which conforms with design specifications.
- Creates print plates for designated part numbers.
- Follows schedule to determine product requirements.
- Reviews engineering design sheet to determine product specifications.
- Selects required tooling from department tool storage bins and installs on machine.
- Operates machine to run designated number of parts.
- Performs quality checks at specified intervals during operations.
- Maintains machine and work area in proper order.
- Adds protector tips or change hangers as needed.
- Unloads parts and assemblies and stacks into parts bin or places assemblies onto printer conveyer. Weighs bins when required to obtain pieces count. Inspects parts for compliance to paint specifications.
- Process assemblies through label printer – visually inspects each one to ensure quality standards are maintained.
- Verifies label placement periodically using caliper.
- Completes lot and identification control tags for each order completed.
- Rehangs or discards inferior parts and assemblies.
- Uses floor jack.
- Observes plant safety rules.
Secondary Tasks
- Cleans chemical tanks.
- Cleans immediate work area.
- Performs other duties as requested by supervision.
Education, Training, Certifications
- High school diploma or GED required
Experience
- Three to six months work experience is required to become proficient in most phases of the job.
Job Knowledge and Skills
- Must be familiar with the identification of parts and assemblies, labels, codes, and terminology.
- Must know the proper loading and unloading procedures, tip and rack requirements, and proper handling techniques for painted parts.
- Requires skill in the use of dial caliper, basic hand tools, and floor jack.
- Must know the proper stacking procedures for painted parts and spring assemblies.
- Must know how to set up and make all adjustments both the Comec and Apex style printers.
- Must be familiar with conducting chemical test on washer system.
- Requires knowledge of tank titrations and chemicals additions to washer system.
- Follows well defined procedures and guidelines with work closely supervised.
- Judgment and initiative are required to maintain accuracy and required level of production.
Accountability / Impact of Errors
- Responsibility for Equipment - Sets up printers with little likelihood of damage to equipment.
- Responsibility for Material or Product - Works with assemblies and parts where most errors would readily be detected. Careless handling of products could result in bent or damaged parts, which could not be salvaged.
- Responsibility for Others - Works in cooperation with others where caution is required to prevent injuries to coworkers.
Working Conditions
- Walking, reaching, bending, pushing and pulling are required.
- Good eye/hand coordination is necessary.
- Light to moderate lifting necessary.
- Maneuvers and positions heavy parts bin with aid of floor jack.
- Speed of conveyer line determines rate of physical activity.
- Exposed to potential cuts and scrapes to fingers and hands, mashed foot, minor burns or head injuries at conveyer line.
- Also exposed to paints, solvents and pretreatment chemicals.
- Works in a normal manufacturing environment with machine noise present in adjoining work areas but not to a disagreeable extent.
