About The Role
Fabric’s UX Researcher will report directly to the VP of Design & UX and be our first hire to the RAA Team (Research, Architecture & Accessibility). You will work in partnership with product managers, designers, prototypers, engineers, sales representatives, and data scientists to deliver deep, nuanced insights that will craft the future of human eCommerce in Fabric.
You have multiple years of varied experience with both quantitive and qualitative methods of research, deep insight, and interviewing customers of different sectors and company sizes. You know how to strategize, analyze and conduct high-end user experience research using multiple methodologies, incorporating both qualitative and quantitative approaches. You’re also stellar at summarizing your findings, love presenting insightful decks, and do so well, both on paper and verbally. You work well with others and have proven instincts about when to hold the line on methodological rigor, and when to adapt to the changing demands of a project. You are a hard worker, dedicated to getting the best possible insight in every quest, and you approach your work with a genuine sense of curiosity and empathy, willing to challenge conventional wisdom and ways of thinking to find the right answer.
Your day-to-day will include:
- Partnering with product managers, designers, and marketers to guide product development and refinement, drawing on expertise in user research and UX standards
- Independently defining project scope and applying appropriate methodologies and foundational, evaluative insights
- Continuously educating stakeholders and peers on accessibility best practices and implementation of accessible design and testing methods, to scale the work, well
- Conducting on-site, remote, and in-field user research studies for small, medium, and large-scale Fabric customers
- Working closely with other researchers and data analysts to develop broad approaches to meeting partner needs
- Sharing tangible findings and prioritized recommendations on a regular basis, (at least once every month), to encourage marketplace health and to drive Fabric’s business goals & mutual learning
- Managing third-party research vendors (e.g., research agencies, moderators) as necessary
- Promoting proven user research methodologies across the company
This is a full-time position reporting initially to the Vice President of Design & UX, and later on to the dedicated UX manager, overseeing the Product Design and RAA team. We would love to accommodate work-from-home candidates who are comfortable traveling to an office location (for cool gatherings, not just work!) once every 2-3 months.
You have (Or; Qualifications):
- 3 years of experience conducting UX research, utilizing methods such as in-depth user interviews, contextual inquiry, journey mapping, participatory design, competitive analysis, user testing, and usability testing
- A degree in Psychology, Social Studies, Cognitive studies, or Interactive Design (or equivalent experience)
- Can demonstrate an in-depth understanding of a range of user research methods, and a deep understanding of modern trends in cross-platform UX design
- Experience leading research at different parts of the product development process, from discovery to delivery
- Are a strong communicator and storyteller, with the ability to hold your own in a meeting and present research findings with a customer-centric perspective
- Are keen for details
- Are ambitious, meticulous, and able to manage multiple projects at a time
- Are empathetic, patient, and bright, and know when to speak and when to take the backseat when interviewing our customers (as well as communicating with peers & higher-ups alike)
- Are hungry to make a difference for shoppers all over the world, and be at the forefront of establishing the web’s best headless eCommerce platform
