Purchasing Agent
Job Scope
The Purchasing Agent will be crucial in sourcing, procuring, and managing lighting and electrical materials essential for FSG project execution at the branch level. This position will report directly to the local vice president and have a collaborative and supportive relationship with the corporate Director of Purchasing. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who understands corporate guidelines, cost analysis, and strategic procurement. The successful candidate will be responsible for issuing purchase orders, tracking material and inventories, analyzing costs, and ensuring the most cost-effective and competitive means.
Key Responsibilities:
- Vendor Management - Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with FSG vendors. Conduct regular vendor performance assessments.
- Purchase Order Management - Prepare and issue purchase orders from project managers for daily activities and project bids as needed.
- Cost Analysis - Conduct thorough cost analysis on materials and services from vendor partners. Collaborate with leadership and project managers to ensure budget adherence and product specification compliance.
- Inventory control - Maintain accurate records of inventory levels, tracking usage and reordering as necessary.
- Reporting and analytics - Generate regular reports on purchase orders, cost, and vendor performance. Analyze data and work with management to identify trends, improvement opportunities, and cost-reduction areas.
- Compliance - Ensure all activities adhere to corporate policies and ethical standards.
- Supports the Director of Purchasing and Inventory Control on special projects.
- Review bid proposals and negotiate contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.
- Approves invoices for payment.
- Expedites delivery of goods for work orders and/or projects as needed.
- Collaborate with other teams and the Director of Purchasing and implement best practices and improvements.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED and one to three years of proven experience in material procurement, preferably in the electrical and lighting industry.
- Analytical mindset with proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A problem-solver.
- Detail-oriented and organized with the ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Time-management skills
- Familiar with lighting and electrical products
- Proficiency in email, internet, and technological tools required for procurement
