Job Description: The Wall Street Journal is looking for an enthusiastic and organized news assistant to join our Africa bureau in Johannesburg. This is a great opportunity to learn the trade at the world's leading business publication and work alongside a group of experienced correspondents covering the continent. Successful candidates will have an interest in financial and economic journalism, be familiar with political and other news in South Africa and region and be able to share some published writing samples. Knowledge of more than two South African languages is a plus. In addition to some administrative tasks, the news assistant will learn to cover economic indicators, company earnings and interest-rate decisions by the South African Reserve Bank and get a chance to write news and feature articles for the Journals print and online editions.
