Summary:
Investigate, evaluate, and dispose of moderately complex insurance and/or reinsurance claims in keeping with sound claim practices and company procedures. Takes a new perspective using existing solutions. Works independently with minimal guidance.
Schedule & Location:
This position is full-time based on-site in Waltham, MA. This position is eligible for one remote day per week on either Tuesday or Friday, based on business needs. Hours are flexible with a primary schedule of 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM.
Responsibilities
Analyzes claims of a basic to intermediate nature and makes payment determination. Confirms that claims fall within the terms of the policy, treaty, or facultative certificate under which they are being submitted, and that appropriate back-up documentation has been provided.
Evaluates and establishes reserves for potential exposure to ensure that the company’s liabilities are fully recognized. Analyzes the nature of assigned claims and their latency period; utilizes additional case reserves as required.
Communicates verbally and in writing with insureds, cedents, reinsurers, brokers, and counsel to secure required claim back-up, pose or respond to inquiries, and resolve claim disputes.
Completes special projects as assigned. Such projects may include, but not be limited to: collection efforts, various research assignments, and preparation/support for reinsurance audits conducted by Senior Claims Examiners. Also, any assigned tasks that are specific to Runoff Operations.
Qualifications
Required Education:
- Bachelor’s degree
Required Work Experience:
- 3-10 years of experience with casualty claims and assumed reinsurance claims
Highly Preferred Work Experience:
- Direct casualty experience would be a huge plus
Required Skills:
- Solid grasp of General Liability, Products Liability, and Environmental coverage issues, including aggregation and allocation
- Microsoft Excel skills
- Very strong verbal and written communication skills
- Basic mathematics
- Well-developed problem-solving skills, and strong reasoning ability
- Comfort level with basic computer technology, maneuvering in company systems
Highly Preferred Skills:
- Strong analytic skills
- Strong logic and reasoning
The salary range for this position is a grade 12 through a grade 15 and has a range from $70,300-$144,300. The final job title and grade level will be selected after a thorough evaluation of the finalist’s skills and experiences, among other factors.
The final salary offer will vary based on geographic location, individual education, skills, and experience.
