We are currently looking for a highly motivated and strategic Customer Insights Consultant to join our property insurance company. As a Customer Insights Consultant, you will play a critical role in providing valuable insights derived from primary market research, data analytics, trends, and competitive dynamics. Your expertise will be crucial in shaping our business decisions and actions through the translation of these insights.   

As a Customer Insights Consultant, you will use customer insights, analytics, critical thinking skills, business objectives and creativity to identify areas for future growth, optimize the client experience and define new opportunities. Your project management, collaboration, and presentation skills must be strong. Your office will be at corporate campus located in Johnston, Rhode Island.

Responsibilities

Your Responsibilities will include the following.

 

  • Develop Market and Competitive Intelligence:  Conduct in-depth research and analysis of competitive businesses through a variety of resources to understand their business models, products, go to market strategy, customers, relevant acquisitions, etc. 
    • Research competitive wins and losses by engaging with companies directly 
    • Maintain database of competitive/market intelligence 
    • Leverage competitive intelligence insights to build resources and training for various departments across the organization 
    • Produce cadenced reports on latest competitive developments and insights 
  • Conduct Research and Data Analysis: Lead customer, competitive and market understanding to identify unmet customer needs, market whitespace, and growth opportunities.  Examine customer data, identify patterns, and develop recommendations. 
    • Plan and manage market research projects and data analysis. 
    • Design research studies (utilizing various methodologies such as surveys, interviews, and focus groups) to gather relevant data customized to our business needs. 
    • Conduct custom research & analytics across multiple areas including, but not limited to, brand communication, innovation, customer segmentation, product development, service experience, etc. 
    • Identify and define marketplace segments and create detailed customer profiles that highlight client needs, preferences, and behavior patterns. 
    • Manage research vendor relationships, negotiating rates and deliverables 
    • Analyze data and extract meaningful insights to identify trends, customer preferences, and competitive dynamics. 
    • Conduct thorough analysis independently, utilizing various statistical techniques and tools. 
    • Provide ad hoc reporting and insight to stakeholders in relation to the competitive, market and customer landscape. 
  • Identify Trends: 
    • Support marketing and business development teams in identifying market trends and opportunities 
    • Exhibit best practices in customer insights and monitoring trends, providing expertise and thought leadership to the organization. 
    • Track and monitor customer and competitor behavior trends over time to ensure that insights remain relevant and accurate.  
  • Generate Insights & Storytelling: Lead the discovery and infusion of customer insights required to drive the evolution of the brand, business model, and go to market efforts 
    • Transform data into actionable insights that guide decision-making. Fusing data from various sources (i.e. market data, customer feedback) to generate new insights that can deliver business benefit. 
    • Utilize your creative thinking skills to connect information from different sources, making use of both quantitative and qualitative data. 
    • Convert learnings across multiple and disparate sources of information into persuasive and concise storytelling 
  • Provide Actionable Recommendations: 
    • Translate insights into actionable recommendations and strategies to drive business growth and enhance customer satisfaction. 
    • Deliver strategic insights and recommendation for new products, new customers, and/or new marketing positioning and communication 
    • Work closely with decision-makers, providing them with recommendations based on an in-depth understanding of customer data. 
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement customer-centric initiatives and programs. 

    Qualifications

    • Education & Work Experience:  
    • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Statistics, Business, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred. 
    • 7 years’ work experience, preferably in marketing, business analytics, or an area that works closely with Sales/Marketing 
    • The ideal candidate has 5 years of relevant management/strategic consulting in the property insurance market 
    • Proven experience in generating insights from primary market research, data analytics, trends, and competitive dynamics 
    • Track record of establishing and facilitating effective cross-functional partnerships and relationships at all levels in a highly collaborative environment 
    • Proven track record of driving organizational change and fostering a data-driven culture. 
    • Skills: 
    • Intellectually curious and appreciates learning new skills and capabilities 
    • Strategic thinker with a passion for staying ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies related to analytics and customer insights. 
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and draw actionable conclusions. 
    • Ability to understand, apply, and integrate data and information on the business, market, competitors, and clients to assess opportunities for growth 
    • Exceptional problem-solving abilities, with the capability to think creatively and make connections across diverse information sources. 
    • Deep expertise and experience in business and marketing strategy 
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey insights and recommendations to stakeholders at various levels. 
    • Ability to build relationships with cross functional partners 
    • Storytelling and the ability to present/share complex information effectively across the organization 
    • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines. 
    • Solid understanding of market research methodologies. 
    • Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. 
    • Expert in Excel, Powerpoint, Qualtrics (or similar) 
    • Enthusiast for AI-powered tools (e.g., Chatgpt, Midjourney, etc.) 
    • Strong grasp of statistical concepts and proficiency in statistical analysis software and tools.  
    • Strong grasp of data visualization and business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI )

    The hiring range for this position is $110,900-$159,400 USD. The final salary offer will vary based on individual education, skills, and experience. The position is eligible to participate in FM Global’s comprehensive Total Rewards program that includes an incentive plan, generous health and well-being programs, a 401(k) and pension plan, career development opportunities, tuition reimbursement, flexible work, time off allowances and much more.
