What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Medical Scribe - STAPA (Part-Time 20 to 29 Hours weekly) position at Faculty Physicians Inc.?
Serves as the Lead Scribe to assist the providers with real-time documentation assistance for clinicians to free the clinician from enough data entry so that he/she can focus on other aspects of quality patient care; accompanies provider in room and documents clinical note, laboratory results, prescription refills, procedures, billing information and any other documentation as directed by the provider. Creates the scribe schedule and on-boarding new scribes.
*This position will be required to work rotating weekends and holidays*
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- College degree and/or experience with exposure to higher level science courses including anatomy and physiology preferred
- Focus on pursuing a career in healthcare at a graduate/doctorate level
- Previous experience in healthcare settings, particularly in the role of medical scribe is required
- Leadership experience preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Strong writing skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Understanding of medical note content, and medical billing and coding
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Approves schedule requests and prepares schedule to assure coverage of all shifts.
2. Provides education to new scribes and serves as a resource for questions and concerns.
3. Conducts quality checks to ensure Scribes are accurately documenting.
4. Participates in recruiting, interviewing and hiring new scribes.
5. Accompanies provider in room during patient visit.
6. Scribes document in EPIC to include: history of present illness, review of systems, physical exam findings, diagnostic assessment and plan of care.
7. Documents results of laboratory and radiographic studies as discussed by provider.
8. Refills any patient prescriptions as directed by the provider.
9. Enters orders for procedures or labs as directed by the provider.
10. Enters billing information as determined by the type of office visit.
11. Coordinates multiple projects and patients and solve problems under pressure
