Job Description
Job Title: Part-Time Faculty
Department: College of Business – Doctor of Business Administration
Reports to: Academic Program Director
FLSA: Exempt
Hours: Available to perform teaching, dissertation chair and committee service responsibilities, as applicable, which may include evenings and weekends
Location: Off-Campus, Remote
Job Summary
Part-time faculty provides teaching and instruction to Columbia Southern University students and collaborates with other faculty to promote an engaging learning environment. In addition to the teaching responsibility, faculty serve as a subject matter expert within their assigned discipline.
Essential Job Tasks Additional duties may be assigned.
- Teaches assigned courses within the qualified discipline including curriculum maintenance, innovation of content, curriculum assessment, and documentation
- Serves as course content expert and reviews individual courses for rigor and currency
- Serves as a dissertation chair and/or committee member as assigned.
- Resolves academic concerns, including academic integrity, grade inflation, and grade challenges
- Participates in regular remote meetings and faculty development opportunities
- Other responsibilities as assigned by the Lead or Academic Program Director

Education and/or Experience:
- Possess a terminal degree in the teaching discipline or in a closely related discipline from an accredited program/college/university.
Equipment Required
Part-time instructors are required to provide their own equipment. This includes:
- Computer, telephone, and a printer with a scanner.
- Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Blackboard, and internal database software
- Internet access with sufficient speed/bandwidth to perform job responsibilities
Work Environment:
Expected to design one’s own personal work environment. Required to be available via remote access and/or technology during working hours.
