About the Role: Controller

As Controller at Fair Harbor, you will oversee our day-to-day accounting, bookkeeping and cash management efforts, as well as manage our month-end close and annual audit. The Controller will also be responsible for managing relationships with both our lender and our external accounting consultants. In addition, the Controller will be responsible for working cross-functionally with all teams in the organization to ensure that the accounting department has all of the information needed to maintain our books. They will also be responsible for leading an annual departmental budgeting effort.

Location: New York, NY

Responsibilities:

  • Manage accounting month-end close, to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting of internal and external financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Hands on leadership of the accounting operations of the company including billing, AR, AP, GL, and revenue recognition
  • Work directly with Senior Accounting Manager and oversee all day-to-day and month-end tasks are promptly completed
  • Management of payroll processing, labor tax compliance and sales tax compliance
  • Partner directly with CFO to oversee cash management and use of inventory financing facility
  • Implement and maintain effective internal controls and safeguards over company assets, receipt of revenue, payments of expenses, compliance with contractual obligations, and compliance with company policies
  • Gain in-depth operational knowledge of the business to monitor, influence and impact the financial performance of the company
  • Build out and maintain annual departmental budgeting process
  • Act as main point of contact for external parties for annual audit and other diligence processes

Requirements:

  • Based in the New York City metro area
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
  • 10 years experience in accounting in similar industry
  • In depth knowledge of NetSuite and Excel (required)
  • Self-starter with the ability to see projects through from start to finish and manage multiple projects simultaneously
