Junior Case Manager/Legal Coordinator
Full-time 40 hours per week
Reports to: Program Director
Job Description Responsibilities:
Junior Case Manager:
- Responsible for providing assistance, support, encouragement and follow-through of the case service plan for each victim from admission to exit.
- Responsible for informing clients of housing options. Obtain housing applications, assist with accurately completing and returning, and follow-up.
- Advocate on client’s behalf with housing authorities.
- Transport client to all housing activities: viewing properties, obtaining applications, attending interviews.
- Inform and screen client for Victim’s Compensation Program. Assist with applications and obtaining necessary documents. Schedule appointments and follow-up on progress.
- Assist with obtaining reliable, affordable childcare and resolve issues.
- Assist with obtaining reliable, affordable transportation and resolve issues.
- Answer and evaluate crisis hotline. Approve victim for entry into the shelter and make arrival arrangements, or admit victim into Outreach Program, or make appropriate referrals to victim and conduct safety planning.
- Listen and speak respectfully to clients to obtain information about their needs, improve self-esteem, and link to appropriate agencies.
- Enter accurate and complete documentation into Case Worthy, on-line data bank.
- Ability to discuss open-minded questions and remain non-judgmental.
- Make daily contact with all clients to identify new problems and obstacles and resolve to ensure successful outcomes.
- Work with other agencies such as DFCS, Pineland Mental Health, Housing Authorities, and civic organizations to provide services to clients.
- Must have exceptional organizational skills and communicate effectively with staff and the community.
- Attend crisis-line training and all in-service trainings.
- Some travel and lifting of donations/assistance with household set-up.
- Acquire a sincere commitment to the success of the Program.
- Must submit to criminal records checks.
- Must have private automobile with proper liability insurance.
Legal:
- Works with clients by phone, email, in face-to-face meetings, and in court.
- Provides information about restraining orders, family court, criminal court, immigration laws, and other legal procedures.
- Provides information and referrals about legal and other community resources.
- Assists clients in safety planning, identifying options, and problem-solving.
- Provides client-specific advocacy to meet identified client needs, such as contact with other service providers, law enforcement, and others.
- Assists clients in filling out and filing restraining order paperwork and attending injunction hearings.
- Assists clients in filling out and filing family court paperwork and attending hearings.
- Accompanies clients to other hearings as required.
- Keeps supervisor informed of high-risk situations in work with clients.
- Maintains professional boundaries with organization clients.
Advocacy, Outreach, and Organization Representation:
- Provides community education as assigned by supervisor.
- Provides professional training to groups such as law enforcement and other partner agencies as assigned.
- Actively participates at community meetings as assigned by supervisor.
- Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with community partners.
- Create with client a service delivery plan including goals.
- Implement plan by connecting client with community resources and mainstream benefits.
- Assess for victim compensation; assist with applications, interviews, court, etc.
- Work collaboratively with other service providers in order to best meet the needs of client/family.
- Facilitate bi-weekly support group in each county on domestic violence.
- Facilitate bi-weekly support group in each county on parenting support and education.
- Connect with businesses, churches, civic groups, etc. to create awareness of project.
- Guide and encourage victim to participate in the criminal justice system and accompany to court.
- Provide transportation for victim to implement service plan.
- Follow-up with the family at 2-weeks, 30, 60 and 90 days.
- Work in counties to improve access to services for domestic violence victims and their rights.
- Maintain accurate records on client/family and enter into Apricot and maintain client file.
- Assist client with achieving all goals to ensure client satisfaction of services.
- Develop and distribute informational material on domestic violence project and services.
- Plan innovative community education and engagement activities to stimulate involvement in Appling and Jeff Davis communities.
- Coordinate with other program administrators.
- Plans press events to promote the program.
- Manage relationships with project staff and communication personnel from other counties and programs to coordinate efforts.
- Updates program’s website regularly with events, information and news surrounding the project.
Attend local activities in service counties to promote the program. * Prepare regular reports for grant tracking purposes.
- Possess effective communication and public outreach techniques.
- Public speaking and confidently communicating verbally to a wide variety of audiences.
- Maintain effective working relationships with city, county and state personnel.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Plan, schedule and organize multiple priorities and a high volume of work.
- Attend all staff meetings and have a passion about job responsibilities.
- Create rapport among clients, community and other services.
- Job may require after-hours and week-end work.
- No texting while driving shelter or personal vehicle.
Record-Keeping and Other Responsibilities:
- Completes all required service documentation in a thorough and timely manner.
- Adheres to organization policies and work rules.
- Consults with supervisor in weekly meetings about client concerns, workload management, professional development, and other areas.
- Attends organization staff and team meetings as required.
- Conducts client/family intakes and individualized in-depth assessments to determine needs.
- Assess family safety and conduct individualized safety plan.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director.

Pay: From $15.00 per hour

Education:
Experience:
- Social work: 1 year (Preferred)
- domestic violence field: 1 year (Required)
