NATURE OF WORK: The Urology clinic patient access specialist is responsible for welcoming patients, collecting, entering and maintaining accurate patient demographics and insurance records. Schedules office appointments, assists patients with form completion, and obtains patient signatures for necessary consent forms. Completes registration and check out processes in the electronic health record. Assists with insurance precertification of diagnostic and lab procedures. Scans records to electronic health record. Answers multi-line phone system and takes accurate messages, assessing the urgency of the message and routing to the appropriate staff person. Collects patient payments. Assists clinical staff to sustain an efficient practice workflow. Maintains ordering stock for office supplies. Maintains organization and cleanliness of patient waiting area.
Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
Experience: Previous medical software experience preferred.
Skills: Previous medical office experience and/or strong customer relations experience preferred. Medical courses are a plus. Team player willing to assist in meeting organizational goals. Excellent communication skills and customer-oriented in approach to others. Experience with multi-line phone system, general office equipment, computer software programs including word processing, internet usage, and email preferred.
