Role Overview:
As the General Manager of Fairhaven Mill, you will lead and oversee all aspects of our operations, from production and quality control to sales and customer service. You will play a pivotal role in driving business growth, ensuring operational efficiency, and maintaining our high standards of product quality and safety. This role requires a dynamic leader with a strong business acumen, a passion for organic agriculture, and a commitment to fostering a positive work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations Management:
- Oversee all aspects of mill operations, including production, quality control, and inventory management.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize efficiency, reduce waste, and streamline processes.
- Ensure compliance with organic certification standards and food safety regulations.
Sales and Marketing:
- Develop and execute sales strategies to drive revenue growth and expand market presence.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with customers, distributors, and retail partners.
- Collaborate with marketing team to develop promotional campaigns and brand messaging.
Financial Management:
- Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
- Monitor financial performance and identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue enhancement.
- Implement pricing strategies to maximize profitability while remaining competitive in the market.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead, mentor, and motivate a diverse team of employees, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Provide guidance and support to department managers, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.
- Facilitate training and professional development opportunities for staff members.
Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance:
- Implement and maintain rigorous quality control procedures to uphold product quality and consistency.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and certifications, including organic standards and food safety protocols.
- Proactively identify and address any issues or discrepancies related to quality or compliance.
Community Engagement and Sustainability:
- Represent Fairhaven Mill within the local community and industry associations, fostering positive relationships and promoting our values and initiatives.
- Champion sustainability initiatives and environmental stewardship efforts, seeking opportunities to reduce our environmental footprint and support sustainable agriculture practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Food Science, Agriculture, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior management role within the food manufacturing industry, preferably in milling or grain processing.
- Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of effectively managing teams and driving results.
- Thorough understanding of milling processes, organic certification requirements, and food safety regulations.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute business plans to achieve organizational goals.
