Our New York team is growing! We are seeking Commissioning Managers for large scale aviation projects in the NYC Metro Area. In this role the Commissioning Manager provides management and coordination of commissioning activities (executes and delivers all project commissioning program requirements). Has significant independent responsibility for managing activities from project initiation through final acceptance, including performance of the designed installation of equipment & systems. The role is based at our NY Office or client office location during program preconstruction stages but is anticipated to be located full time at John F Kennedy International Airport and reports to the program Project Management Director.

How will you contribute to the team?
- Provides management for execution of commissioning activities to ensure facilities are ready for commercial use.
- Provides and daily leadership for the project team.
- Provides primary daily point of contact to client, contractors, and consultants at project level.
- Creates and executes project execution plans, including preparation of pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up procedures.
- Manages day-to-day commissioning field activities.
- Identifies resources needed and assigns individual responsibilities.
- Reviews technical and contractual deliverables prepared by team before passing to client.
- Prepares commissioning dossiers; monitors the receipt of project as-built drawings, O&M manuals, training materials, warranty manuals and commissioning reports.
- Works with team to minimize exposure and risk on project.
- Ensures safe execution of commissioning activities, including adherence to work permit procedures are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
- Performs such other duties as the Supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.
- Complexity - Work involves conventional practice including knowledge of cost and scheduling a variety of complex features.
- Decision-making - Most assignments are performed solitarily.
- Makes decisions on technical problems and methods.
- Receives approval on proposed plans for projects and general direction as to results expected or on unusual problems.
- Work direction given to others - Has direct supervisory responsibilities for direct reports, and indirect supervisory responsibilities related to the professional and practice related development of other project staff.
What will you contribute?
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, plus eight years relevant experience.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) [certified by the Project Management Institute (PMI) Global Accreditation Centre (GAC)] and/or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) [certified by the Construction Manager Certification Institute (CMCI), an independent administrative body of the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA)] highly desirable.
- Understanding of Project Management, Building Design & Construction, Critical Path Method (CPM) Scheduling, Building Cost Modeling, and Risk Analysis.
- Thorough understanding of systems integration and commissioning sequencing.
- Must thoroughly understand and utilize Information Technology in the performance of work including Internet, Intranet, Microsoft Windows OS, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project.
- Must be highly articulate, have clear and analytical approach to problem solving, and strong decision-making abilities.
- Must have excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Must have previous experience on large scale construction programs. Experience with aviation projects and/or programs withing the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s jurisdiction is highly preferred.
