Position Summary:

Falck is seeking a Scheduler to join our City of San Diego 911 EMS operation. The Scheduler is responsible for recording hours of work, processing, coordinating schedules, and monitoring basic operations. This position has direct contact with all department managers, EMS employees, general managers, special event venues, and customers. The location for this position is flexible within Southern California.

Projected Salary: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour (dependent on experience)

Must be available to work at least every other weekend.

Responsibilities:

The Scheduler may be assigned one or more duties. These duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Responsible for designing schedules for the EMS employees assuring that all shifts are filled.
  • Coordinating vacation & unscheduled sick time for Ambulance operations.
  • Compiles, composes and types memos, routine correspondence, and statistical reports.
  • This position will also help maintain an electronic employee database that tracks key payroll and schedule information about all employees.
  • Has the authority to schedule and approve overtime as necessary to meet appropriate staffing requirements to assure accuracy and makes corrections as needed.

Additional Duties:

The Scheduler may be assigned one or more additional duties. These duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Scheduler works closely with field employees, supervisors, and managers to coordinate the schedule and payroll effort.
  • Reports to the Scheduling Manager and keeps the Division Manager informed as to scheduling status and overtime.
  • Perform other job related as assigned by the Scheduling Manager.

The individual in this position must possess the following qualifications:

  • Experience conducting scheduling duties in an EMS or other system is preferred, but not required
  • Knowledge and ability to work in ESO is preferred, but not required
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to work effectively with a diverse range of individuals, teams, managers, supervisors, and external customers. Excellent ability to communicate and work cohesively across Department lines.
  • Must have computer competency including proficiency with Microsoft Suite, and understanding of database programs, and type 40 wpm (minimum).
  • Must have the ability to consistently deliver outstanding customer service to all internal and external customers.
  • Highly dependable and ability to meet internal deadlines consistently.
  • Strong organization skills and attentiveness to detail.
  • Flexible and adaptable, willing and able to adjust to rapidly changing priorities.
  • Must have the ability to work independently as well as in groups.
  • Ability to maintain a professional manner and appearance at all times.
  • Minimum of one-year experience in office setting preferred.

Education Requirements:

The individual in this position must possess the following education requirements:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
