Job Summary:

The IP/Narrative Creative Manager at Falcon’s is responsible for developing, managing, and conveying assigned intellectual property (IP) assets and narratives as they relate to creative alignment and approvals processes for projects. They play a crucial role in understanding and realizing a project’s overall vision by working with the Design and Media teams in coordination with IP holders to ensure good work which respects established IP requirements and satisfies IP holder concerns. They shape the creative direction, presentation, and overall narrative of projects, working closely with cross-functional teams.

Essential Functions:

  • IP Development and Management
    • Research and understand the relevant stories, characters, locations, themes, and other assorted components of assigned intellectual properties.
    • Procure visual reference material and produce packages for aforesaid references.
    • Identify, develop, and manage appropriate intellectual property assets including story concepts, characters, worlds, and themes.
    • Accurately identify, collate, curate, and organize large volumes of reference material for distribution to artists and vendors.
    • Collaborate with legal and licensing teams to ensure proper protection and exploitation of intellectual property rights.
  • Narrative Strategy
    • Develop engaging plotlines, story arcs, character backgrounds, and narrative beats that align with the project’s goals and target audience.
    • Collaborate with writers and other disciplines to realize narrative features and content.
    • Help to produce narrative documents and presentations that support project proposals and milestone deliverables.
    • Write design documents and iterate on that documentation as required throughout development and production on projects.
    • Coordinate or assist with art direction and creative management from both the narrative and intellectual property perspectives.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Work with writers, designers, artists, developers, and other creative professionals to execute narrative vision across different mediums (e.g., games, books, films, comics).
    • Provide creative direction and guidance to ensure consistency and cohesion in storytelling across different platforms.
    • Responsible for coordinating with IP holders to learn and confirm what are the most important aspects of design and ensure designs progress in a way that will pass the approvals process.
  • Content Creation and Oversight
    • Assist project teams throughout a project’s lifecycle to ensure creative design intent is successfully conveyed to, and approved by, IP holders.
    • Oversee the creation of content based on the established narratives, ensuring quality, originality, and adherence to IP guidelines.
    • Review and edit scripts, dialogue, and other written materials to maintain a high standard of storytelling.
  • Quality Control
    • Conduct regular reviews and assessments of creative content that advise or guide in-progress work to ensure it appropriately conforms to the requirements and internal logic of associated intellectual properties.
    • Offer tangible written, visual, or verbal creative reviews and redlines of design content in relation to respecting intellectual property.
    • Receive and understand IP holder feedback and concerns to vet submittals and serve as an internal representative of the IP holder during design deliberations.
    • Manage the approvals process for submittals and asset design in order to ensure work is approved without undue delay or mistakes.
  • Market Research and Trend Analysis
    • Stay informed about industry trends, competitor narratives, and audience preferences to make informed creative decisions.
    • Use market insights to adapt and evolve narratives to capture emerging opportunities.

Job Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Must possess extensive, thorough personal knowledge of various intellectual properties, or variously be willing and capable to obtain that familiarity (e.g., via reading, watching, researching or playing appropriate material).
  • Proficiency in relevant software tools and platforms for content creation and management such as Adobe Photoshop, Bridge, and Premiere.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., creative writing, literature, media studies, game design) or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong storytelling skills and a deep understanding of narrative structure, character development, and world-building.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management abilities.
  • Familiarity with intellectual property laws and licensing is a plus.
  • Experience in creative industries such as entertainment, gaming, publishing, or advertising is desirable.
  • Must have or be able to quickly acquire knowledge of company structure (mission, goals, and objectives), and policies and procedures.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be authorized to work lawfully in the United States of America.
