Overview
Falconwood is a woman-owned / veteran-owned company providing consultation and programmatic support to Department of Defense (DoD) Information Technology (IT) initiatives and programs. We provide expert advice and consultation on a diverse range of IT subjects, focusing on acquisition, cybersecurity, engineering, logistics, and process development.
We have an immediate opening for an IT Technical Writer to support the Naval Network Warfare Command (NNWC) Cyber Engineering Team’s (CET’s) mission to execute tactical-level command and control of Navy Networks for Navy and Joint Operations with an emphasis on Cloud Computing.
The CET Technical Writer will provide CET Leadership with high-quality documentation and administrative support for CET testing and troubleshooting events and internal and external meetings. The Technical Writer will also develop standard operating procedures and other project and process manuals as needed. Associated tasks will include drafting, routing, and tracking official correspondence, reports, designation letters, and other documents as required by CET and/or CTF 1010 leadership.
Responsibilities
- Write, rewrite, and/or edit technical manuals such as installation guides and operating procedures to convey specifications and instructions effectively to a wide range of audiences
- Acquire subject matter knowledge through interviewing engineers, observing team activities and engagements, understanding equipment use, and gathering data from available testing tools
- Translate complex technical data into user-friendly text, tables, and illustrations
- Generate, manage, and update CET product templates as directed
- Develop, organize, and maintain the CET digital collaboration space
- Attend meetings and take accurate minutes for posting and distribution
- Draft, route, and track official correspondence, reports, award letters, and other documents as required and in accordance with established deadlines
- Document and communicate revisions and/or addenda to CET Memoranda of Agreement/Understanding, OPORDs, TASKORDs, FRAGORDs, CONOPS, OPSMAN, etc. to team members
- Protect all classified and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) with appropriate markings, encryption, etc. as required in accordance with applicable regulations
- Perform other technical administrative duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Active SECRET Clearance
- 5 years IT experience, to include general knowledge of IT networking and Cyber Security practices and experience in a network operations environment
- Proficiency in technical and business writing with attention to detail
- Experience writing for multiple audiences, including project managers, subject matter experts, developers, system administrators, QA testers, technical support, end users, and executive decision makers
- Flexible team player who can work independently and in a team environment with geographically-dispersed team members
- Ability to think independently with minimal oversight, as well as demonstrate self-motivation and initiative
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and skilled use of Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneNote, Visio, and Acrobat Pro
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interface effectively with internal and external customers
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field
- Security Certification
- Knowledge of Navy rules, regulations, policies, processes, procedures, and process improvement strategies
- Knowledge of Cloud Computing fundamentals with an emphasis on Microsoft Azure Stack Hyber Converged Intrstructure (HCI)
Pay Range
$65,000 to $126,000
