What are the responsibilities and job description for the RTI Literacy Teacher position at Falmouth Public Schools?
Falmouth Middle School is looking for a passionate Response to Intervention (RTI) Literacy Teacher who will work directly with individual and small groups of students in grades 6-8. This person will collaborate with classroom teachers and families to support students with literacy needs. The ideal candidate will have extensive skills in literacy intervention and instruction, and demonstrate deep understanding of the current literacy research, differentiation, scaffolding, reading and writing content at the upper elementary and middle levels, as well as the developmental needs of adolescents. The role requires flexibility and collaborative skills.
The RTI teachers caseload and time with students are comparable to other full-time teachers in the district. This is a singular role in the building and requires that the individual be able to work independently and seek collaboration with others on behalf of students. The duties of this position will include: Planning, implementation, and instruction of Tier III pull-out and substantially separate Literacy RTI student support Employing technology-based interventions Scheduling student support timeProviding alternative testing settings for students when applicableWorking in collaboration to review student progress and to determine appropriate and individualized interventions based on data collection, analysis, and progress monitoring Meeting with elementary RTI staff to plan and review 6th grade placement, and with high school RTI staff to review 9th grade placementConducting a regular review of the programming in collaboration with administration and the teamParticipating in ELA Content Team meetings, and building and district professional learningWilling to co-teach classes when neededScheduling and administering RTI assessments for diagnostic and growth purposesMaintaining accurate records of student data and communicating regularly with teachers and families, as well as attending various student meetings Qualifications / Certifications / Experience / Degree requirement Maine Teaching Licensure (or eligibility)Experience working with RTI students in a pull-out settingLiteracy Specialist Certification preferredBackground in Special Education preferredApproved background check (run by the district).Pay commensurate with education and experience.
