What are the responsibilities and job description for the Victims of Crime Advocate for Youth position at Family Assistance Program?
REPORTS TO: Victims of Crime Manager
HOURS: Full-Time Position/Weekends and evenings are required.
HOURLY RATE: Range is $18 - $19 an hour. After the 90-day probation period benefits will include: sick and vacation time, 11 paid holidays, plus employee health insurance plan.
BASIC DUTIES: Provide crisis intervention services, case management, gateway services, referrals, and crisis supportive counseling to victims of crime youth. • Educate on risk reduction strategies and coping skills to youth victims of crime. • Work closely with all street youth who voluntarily enter into the Family Assistance programs. • Complete daily time cards. • Record keeping will include weekly reports to be given to the Victims of Crime Program Manager. • Maintain clean driving record, keep company vehicle clean and report maintenance issues/auto repair issues to agency in written form. • Complete mileage log as applicable for driving between sites during case management activities.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
CLIENT SERVICES
The Victims of Crime Advocate must have the ability to work as a team member with community partners from other social service agencies, law enforcement and other victims of crime related businesses. Provide advocacy with criminal justice agencies, court accompaniment, assistance with impact statements, and transportation to criminal justice offices and courts. In addition to serving as an victims of crime advocate with the youth, the advocate will also serve as a representative of Family Assistance Program and a liaison with other youth service providers. • Ability to develop and maintain professional and cooperative working relationships with staff, business professionals and other agencies in the community
ADDITIONAL DUTIES • Attend community fairs to promote awareness of the agency programs and meet with victims of crime youth to build relationships of trust for referrals for service. • This position will work with victims of crime youth and case management. • Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS •At least 2 years’ experience. • Excellent oral and written communication skills; Computer and word processing skills. • Fingerprinting, law enforcement, and child protection background checks required. • Must have reliable transportation and proof of automobile insurance to provide services listed above; a clean DMV record and current California Driver’s License. Must have at least your first dose of the Covid Vaccine.
