Job Summary

Family Connections and Learning Center is hiring an independent contractor in our tutoring department. FCLC's Learning Center offers general academic tutoring and specialized tutoring for typical and atypical learners. General academic tutors provide children with additional and/or basic instruction of school subject matter, and specialized tutors provide catered academic tutoring based on the individual's developmental learning needs. Most tutoring sessions are held in a one-on-one learning environment with the opportunity to create group sessions. We are looking for a flexible thinker that has experience working in educational or academic settings with children of gifted intellect, ADHD, learning disabilities, and/or executive functioning deficits.

The Learning Center is team oriented and works with our mental health team to support all learners' academic and emotional needs.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide educational enhancement to children with learning disabilities such as ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, and other learning challenges
  • Develop creative lesson plans that utilize several types of learning styles
  • Track academic goals, progress and areas of improvement
  • Coordinate care with parents or guardians
  • Coordinate care with FCLC's clinical team (as needed)
  • Attend monthly team meetings (in person or virtual)
  • Continue professional growth and development for assisting children with atypical development

Qualifications and Skills

  • 2 years of experience working with children
  • Recommended 1 year working in an academic setting
  • Basic understanding of learning challenges and their impact on learning development
  • Flexible, independent thinker
  • Creative
  • Problem-solver
  • Performs well in new environments
