Job Responsibilities
- Evaluate and provide care for patients in the emergency department.
- Perform medical procedures necessary for diagnosis and treatment in a timely and efficient manner.
- Respond to life-saving situations, using advanced life support techniques.
- Collaborate with other physicians, nurses, and medical staff to formulate treatment plans.
- Interpret diagnostic tests, including lab results and imaging studies.
- Prescribe and administer medications as appropriate for patient care.
- Document all patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
- Educate patients and their families on their conditions and the necessary steps for recovery.
- Keep up to date with advancements in emergency medicine and best practices through continuing education.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including hygiene and infection control standards.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to medical students, residents, and other junior medical staff.
- Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the improvement of protocols and procedures.
- Ensure that patient care is delivered in accordance with ethical and legal guidelines.
- Assist in the management of the emergency department, including patient flow and resource allocation.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and respect for all individuals’ rights and dignity.
Job Requirements
- Medical degree from an accredited medical school
- Valid and active full, unrestricted medical license in the State
- Board certified
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
- Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
- ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support) certification unless ABEM
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in an Emergency Medicine post residency
- Excellent decision-making skills and ability to work independently
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary team setting
- Commitment to continuing education and staying current with advancements in emergency medicine
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform required procedures
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays - Dedication to patient safety and quality of healthcare
- Ability to manage multiple emergency cases efficiently and effectively
- Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems
- Legal eligibility to work in the jurisdiction of the healthcare facility
