We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Lab Technician to join our dynamic healthcare team. Duties
Identify patients and confirm their identity using medical records and identification methods.
Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding and comfort.
Perform venipunctures and skin punctures to collect blood samples.
Label collected blood samples accurately and manage proper documentation for tracking.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to hygiene and sanitation protocols.
Follow all health and safety guidelines and procedures for handling and disposing of needles and blood samples.
Utilize a variety of tools and equipment such as needles, tourniquets, blood collection devices, and test tubes.
Monitor patients for adverse reactions and provide appropriate care if necessary.
Ensure proper storage and transport of samples to the laboratory for analysis.
Maintain equipment in good working order and report any malfunctions or supply shortages.
Perform basic administrative duties such as updating patient records, entering data, and handling phone inquiries.
Attend training sessions and stay current with the latest techniques and industry standards.
Collaborate with laboratory personnel to ensure timely and accurate test results.
Participate in quality control measures to ensure high standards of practice.
Licenses/Certifications
Basic Life Support (BLS), within 30 days of hire or transfer
Phlebotomy certification (e.g., CPT from NHA, or ASCP)
Education
High school diploma or equivalent
5 years of experience, preferably in a hospital or clinical setting
